In this virtual demonstration, award-winning artist/food artist/cake artist, Kim M. Simons teaches you how to paint beautiful designs on fondant with royal icing.

Once you master this skill, you can take your cookie and cake decorating to the next level!  Learn how to become a cake star!

Kim was named one of the top ten Cake Artists by Dessert Professional magazine. She took lessons by local artist and teacher C. Leland Parks, of Liberty High School, to heart. In 2010, Kim watched a TV show featuring Food Art, specifically, cakes. “I can do that,” Kim said and began creating detailed and unique pieces with food.  She entered one of her first pieces in a major cake show—and won the top prize, followed by ten victories in ten shows and appearances on The Food Network and demonstrations at some of the biggest venues in the United States. All the while, Kim continued to paint and painted four-and-a-half doves along The Sullivan County Dove Trail. She also writes a monthly column/tutorial for The River Reporter, and has published a cookbook of gluten-free recipes.  One of Kim’s missions is to help people feel better through the strategic use of nature’s gifts—roots, spices, and herbs among them.
