Toddler & Preschool Story Times

Mondays at 10:00am and Fridays at 11:00am (next cycle: Sept. 17th- Nov. 19th)

Our story times incorporate music, movement, stories, and early literacy skills and are appropriate for ages 18mo. thru 5 years old, but smaller children can participate with lots of parent interaction. All children must be accompanied by a parent. Story times are free and open to the public.

Registration is requested, but walk-ins will be welcome if space and supplies permit.
If Monticello Central School District announces a closing or delayed opening, story time will be cancelled.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program

EBCPL is a participating library in the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program

The Challenge is simple. Read 1000 books to your child before they begin Kindergarten to help them start on the path to success in school. Stop by the library to pick up your packet. For every 100 books you read child will earn a prize. After 1000 books you'll join our wall of fame and get a t-shirt!

You can even download the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten App and get started tracking today.

Tinker Tots

Thursdays at 10am

Tinker Tots is a play-based program for infants & toddlers and their caregivers. 

Each week you and your child will interact with a variety of different toys and activities to help with their emerging literacy, social development, communication skills, and more. Caregivers will learn fun tips for helping their child develop early literacy skills too.

Tinker Tots runs every week but is subject to cancellation based on the School Districts weather cancellations. Registration is requested, but walk-ins will be welcome if space and supplies permit.

Home School Programs

The library supports our local home school families by offering a monthly themed program where students of all ages present and showcase their work. 

For more information about upcoming home school programs see our calendar or contact our youth services librarian. 

This program takes place on the last Thursday of each month from 1:00-2:00pm. Immediately following the program, our Children's Program Room will be available for parents to chat & plan until 3pm.

Registration for this program by calling 845-794-4660 ext. 5 or stopping by the children's circulation desk.

Family Movies

Each Saturday at 1pm the library hosts a family movie on the big screen. 

The first Saturday of each month is designated as our Teen Movie, with movies rated up to PG-13. Each subsequent week will have movies rated G or PG. Children and families are welcome at all movie showings. As always, children under 12 years of age must have a parent or guardian present in the building. 

We show newly released or seasonally appropriate movies. For information on which movie is showing, call the library at 845-794-4660.
