Bonnie J. Lewis, RN and Certified Instructor, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County, will present the second part of her benefits of Tai Chi  for arthritis. The first part was very well received and Bonnie is back to explain in more depth how Tai Chi can increase strength, posture, relaxation, prevent falls and reduce stress. You need not have attended Part 1 to benefit from Part 2. Part 2 will build upon the first class by reviewing and practicing the gentle warm-up exercises followed by learning the first four movements: Commencement, Open, and Close, Single Whip and Waving hands.  Mrs. Lewis will demonstrate and then participants will follow along.  If the participant is weak or in pain, the use of a strong, sturdy chair is encouraged to be used and how to modify a tai chi movement will be explained. Participants need a practice area clear of obstacles, an electronic device capable of viewing demonstration, a microphone to hear Bonnie and ask questions and good shoes (no flip flops or clogs).  This virtual program is provided by the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library located in Monticello, NY.
