Help With Searching
Searching by title or author
You can type the author’s name or the title into the search bar
You can also use the drop down bar to search by title or author
If you do not type anything in the box and click “search” it will browse through the catalog.
IF YOU WANT TO DO AN EXACT SEARCH
Unlike doing a search on Google or other web engines, you don’t need to put your query in quotes to make sure it is exact. If you wish to search for dinosaurs you can pick subject in the drop down and type dinosaurs in box. This will look for all materials in the library having to do with dinosaurs.
WHAT DOES A RESULT LOOK LIKE?
WHAT IF YOU WANT TO NARROW THE SEARCH TO MONTICELLO?
On the left hand side of the result section you will see the “library” box. If you click on “more” it will expand or “less” it will decrease the list of library included in the results. Once you find “Monticello-Ethelbert B'“ you can check the box and click “Include” This will show all results only from Monticello.
HOW DO I PLACE A HOLD?
Once you find the material that you are looking for, you can click “Place Hold” and a box will pop up. If you are already logged in, it will continue the hold process. Otherwise it will prompt you to login.
Once you log in you can complete your hold.
