Monticello’s 1st Civic Mural

Mural Panorama Composite Final 20180828.JPG

Between the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library and the Monticello Bagel Bakery, you will not only find Vera’s Story Garden but a new colorful mural. This colorful mural was conceptualized and created by two local teens, Angie Snowden and Tyler Olivo. Support for the project was provided by the the Sullivan County Plans & Progress Small Grant Program as well as local creative center ENGN.

The teens worked with Tom Bosket from ENGN to create this mural over countless summer hours and numerous rough drafts before even beginning the painting process. The hours of research included looking at contemporary painters and civic murals as well reflecting on their day-to-day lives.

You can see more of the artistic process & artist inspiration here.
