Borscht Belt Historical Marker Designation Project & Movie Showing

  • Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library 479 Broadway Monticello, NY, 12701 United States (map)

The Borscht Belt Historical Marker Project is a new group dedicated to identifying and commemorating locations significant to the history of the Borscht Belt, a celebrated era in American Jewish life. The project aims to fill a gap in local history storytelling and historic preservation by creating a large-scale historic marker trail. It will be complimented by self-guided audio-driving tour that will traverse Sullivan and parts of Ulster Counties. As of the Borscht Belt Historical Marker Project's inception, there are no historical markers to indicate where this famed era took place.

Join the Library and the Borscht Belt Historical Marker Project for its first historic marker dedication on Thursday, May 25 at 4:30 pm. Afterward, stay for a screening of the documentary Welcome to Kutsher' s followed by a Q&A with directors Ian Rosenberg and Caroline Laskow.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

Admission to the event is free. Note there is a cap of 70 attendees for the film. Contact the library for other viewing opportunities.
