Mark Blackford Photo by Christopher Wheeling B&W.jpg

Mark Blackford, the first-ever Sullivan County Poet Laureate, will be recognized formally at a public ceremony sponsored by the Sullivan Public Library Alliance.

All are welcome for poetry and refreshments and to provide encouragement as Mark Blackford begins a year of public engagements.

The Village of Monticello dove, one of fifty along the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association Dove Trail, will be unveiled following recognition of the County Poet Laureate.

Please stay to see this work of art created by local artist Kim Flynn in tribute to the 50th Anniversary of the Woodstock Festival.

The Poet Laureate position is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and is administered by Delaware Valley Arts Alliance. Additional financial support is provided by the Friends of the Mamakating Library, the Friends of the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library, the Catskill Art Society, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and by Lynn Skolnick.
